Supporting Patients and Families
Practice Summary
Nancy Boutin provides patient-centered psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and young adults, emphasizing thoughtful evaluation, evidence-based treatment, and collaborative care planning tailored to each individual’s needs. Her practice is predominantly telehealth-based, with patients typically seen in person for their annual visit during the summer months when school is not in session. This approach prioritizes individualized treatment, clear communication, and support for patients and families.
Conditions or Disorders
The practice addresses a wide range of mental and behavioral health concerns, including ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, adjustment disorders, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and mood-related challenges. Care is also provided for individuals with autism spectrum-related concerns and co-occurring emotional or behavioral difficulties across developmental stages. Each evaluation considers psychological, social, academic, and family factors to support accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning.
Psychotherapy and Psychopharmacology
Care integrates psychopharmacology with supportive psychotherapy to address symptoms and underlying contributing factors. Treatment may include medication management alongside therapeutic interventions focused on coping skills, emotional regulation, and behavioral strategies. Lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, physical activity, and stress management are incorporated as appropriate, supporting a balanced and comprehensive approach to mental health care.
Medication Management
Medication management is approached conservatively and thoughtfully, with a strong emphasis on safety, education, and ongoing monitoring. When medications are indicated, treatment decisions are individualized and reviewed regularly to assess effectiveness, side effects, and overall functioning. The goal is to use the lowest effective dose while integrating non-pharmacological strategies whenever possible to support long-term mental health and stability.
Appointments
Appointments are available for new evaluations and follow-up visits, with care delivered primarily via telehealth. Patients are typically seen in person once annually during the summer months when school is not in session. Initial visits focus on thorough assessment and collaborative goal setting, while follow-up appointments monitor progress and adjust treatment as needed, with clear communication and a structured approach to continuity of care.
Insurances Accepted
The practice accepts many major insurance plans to support accessible mental health care, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, CIGNA Health Plan, UnitedHealthcare, and more. Coverage and benefits vary by plan, so patients are encouraged to verify eligibility and cost-sharing details prior to scheduling. Support is available to answer insurance questions and ensure transparency around fees, coverage, and payment expectations before treatment begins.

The Benefits of Psychotherapy for Teens and Young Adults
Seeing a psychotherapist can significantly improve outcomes for teens and young adults by providing a structured, supportive space to explore emotions, behaviors, and life stressors during critical developmental stages. Psychotherapy helps individuals build effective coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen problem-solving abilities, while addressing underlying contributors to anxiety, depression, and behavioral concerns. Early therapeutic intervention also supports healthy identity development, emotional resilience, and long-term mental wellbeing, reducing the risk of more severe challenges later in life.
